What is your full name?
James Arthur Lindsey Jr.
Date of birth?
APRIL 22ND. Earth Day
What is your stage name?
Jalin Roze
Where are you from originally?
Louisville, Ky…Norfork to be exact. Norfork Whats good?!
Tell us about what you do?
I do a lot really but in my spare time I rap. I have a knack I guess you could say for expressing my life and making others relate.
What effect do you hope this has on humanity as a whole?
I hope my music touches the people around me first. If I can effect humanity positively then I would be OK with that. I just want my city to see first.
What would you like to pass on to future generations?
I would like to pass to them my life through music. I would like it to be a time capsule for the moment that I was in but also inform them on the things around them. I like to discuss topics or things that most people look over so I guess I want to pass them to be observant.
What type of influence do you think today’s modern hip hop, RnB and rap has on teenagers growing up in lower income families?
I think hip hop and R&B influences children now more than ever. I mean music is more accessible then ever so that’s all kids do now is download music. Me personally coming from lower income housing one thing that we always had was music. In lower income neighborhoods kids look up to the dope dealers, sports players and musicians; it has always been that way. I think it’s a good and bad influence at times. I think that certain songs can influence kids to go out and reach goals and make a change, and then there are songs that influence kids to live a fabricated lifestyle or stay emerged in the society around them. It really depends on the song.
Who are some positive role models that have emerged from the urban culture?
Muhammad Ali
Who are some poor role models that have emerged?
Too many to name…
Jalin Roze - Taxi from Visual Space Media on Vimeo.
What is a Louisville rappers purpose globally, in the wake of natural and man made catastrophes like the Japanese tsunami and nuclear melt downs, middle eastern war efforts, global water shortages and economic monopolies?
I think that a Louisville’s rappers purpose globally during catastrophic disasters is to make people aware. There are always more important things than music and people need to learn that.
How much money is “enough” money?
Im not sure yet, lol. I just want to live comfortable.
Name the top 6 things you would spend your first million dollars on.
Foundation in my mothers name, business investment of my choice, house for my sister, studio, community center in Norfork, car.
How does urban culture relate to politics?
They go hand and hand.’

How do you feel about the presidents sinking approval rating?
Im not really sure on how accurate that rating is compared to hw he really is doing as president but it doesn’t seem as if we will get a second term without a big push from Oprah again lol…joking.
Do you have any criticisms about him your-self?
I really don’t have any criticism myself. I think it takes a lot of guts to do what he does. Good or bad your basically taking shots everyday. If you help one thing you hurt another. There may be some things I may disagree with but that’s with every president.
What concerns you the most about our current government?
I think our government has too much power.
Have you ever been to jail?
Never been to jail…but you never know.
Do you think civil war will ever happen in the USA?
I mean anything could happen.
If you had to pick sides would you be ‘us’ or ‘them’?
Us. You heard “For the Love”, Im fighting for freedom!
What do you think will be the straw that breaks the camels back, what will be the line in the sand, the guiding difference that will divide the two sides of a civil war in America?
If I only knew… There is so many problems it could be anything.
In terms of social-economic statuses, where would you place your self currently and where would you place your family when you were growing up?
When my mom had me we moved to Norfork and I lived there until I was 22. It was always low-income housing. It wasn’t like the worst hood ever but I was definitely exposed to that at an early age.

Are you religious?
I respect all religions. I am a Christian tho.
What do you think happens to us when we die?
Pearly gates part…and hopefully we can walk through them.
What do you think happens to our memories, experiences and feelings after we are dead?
They live on through our families.
Have you ever lost anyone close to you?
My mother at 22 to lung cancer. That was the worst day of my life.
So what kind of shows you got coming up?

Nope no diss intended. Just thought that these questions would give some insight on Jalins character. After getting to know him better I think I'd ask some different questions, but initially I was looking for something more than just the stock artist questions you see everywhere else. But you're not the first person to tell me that these questions are loaded as hell. Thanks though for your feedback maybe Ill get it right on the next interview.
I try. Lmao. I'm just saying though.
lmfao you guys are too much. THanks for checkin it out for real.
It showed Jalin has a good head on his shoulders and in a time when real values, issues, and ethics are shunned in music (and in all mainstream media for that matter!), he will continue to create authentic Hip-Hop the culture can be proud of.
I can't wait to hear more from Jalin as he is representing the city as it should be and I definitely can't wait to read more interviews and articles from thelocalsounds.net, where real journalism is FAR from dead.
